You guys play what?
Texas music.
So what is Texas music? Well, Gary Hartman has a great book titled “The History of Texas Music”. Short of reading that, it can be described this way:
Texas music is truly unique. Spanning a broad array of genres, including blues, gospel, ragtime, jazz, conjunto, Tejano, country, zydeco, cajun, rock and roll, and many others, Texas music, perhaps better than anything else, reflects the rich history and tremendous ethnic and cultural diversity of the Southwest. It fits into no category, it’s seldom played on radio stations outside the southwest, and it’s a true American art form.
The Notorious Gringos band formed in 2007 with a collection of musicians from various musical backgrounds who shared a Texas connection (either from there, work there, family’s there, heart’s there, or been thrown out of there).
Since the members brought with them the influences of their former styles of music (country, rock, bluegrass, and beach music), the sound that they created was uniquely their own. The rough and often unpolished edge of Texas rock blends with a bluegrass chop, a polished- cool bluesy guitar, and smart/ engaging lyrics creating a heavy reverb alt-country rock with just the right amount of twang. Performing from Cape Fear to Northern Minnesota, from The Devil’s Backbone Tavern to South Georgia, the band believes “you earn your fans – one fan at a time”.
In March of 2009, the band traveled to Fort Worth, Texas to cut our debut album “Wrong Side of Good”. Texas singer/ songwriter Phil Pritchett produced, engineered, and arranged the record at Trinidad World Recording. The result is the true Texas sound that Phil Pritchett is famous for.

Located 2740 W. Sugar Creek Rd. at the Intersection of Mallard Creek Road in Derita. Puckett's is home to one of Charlotte's Finest Live Music Stages. Second and third Wednesday of the month there's bluegrass with no cover charge. On Thursday nights it's open mic. night giving everyone a chance to strut his or her stuff on stage. Then on Friday and Saturday nights some of Charlotte's finest musicians take the stage with shows generally starting around 10:00pm. There is a modest cover charge on the weekends that goes directly to the artist. There's always plenty of cold beer at very reasonable prices! Hope to see ya there!
